Free Electric School Bus High Voltage and Electrical Training for California Fleet Technicians.
$2 MILLION AWARDED TO PROVIDE FREE ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUS TECHNICIAN TRAINING IN CALIFORNIA
The Advanced Transportation and Logistics Sector (ATL) of the California Community Colleges was awarded $2 million by the California Energy Commission to provide Electric School Bus Technician Training to community college faculty and fleet technicians employed by high school districts statewide.
The Advanced Transportation and Logistics Sector (ATL) of the California Community Colleges was awarded $1 million by the California Energy Commission to provide electric school bus technician and bus operator training by community college faculty. Working with leading educators, thought leaders, subject matter experts and technicians in alternative fuels, ATL has developed a series of training courses to educate CA school district fleet technicians on electric school bus technology and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment/Charging Systems.
ATL’s Electric School Bus Training Project guides and prepares school bus techs and operators through troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electric buses. Six training courses are provided in Northern and Southern California which are hosted at school district fleet facilities, or nearby regional college campuses.
The CEC’s School Bus Replacement Program Offers Funds to Replace Old Diesel School Buses in Disadvantaged and Low-Income Communities Throughout California.
The California Energy Commission is helping schools embrace next-generation zero-emission vehicles and improve children’s health by reducing their exposure to transportation-related air pollution. Participating schools receive funds for electric buses and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP) offers incentives for the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure at publicly accessible sites throughout California.
About ATL
Making the transition to electric school buses that don’t emit pollution provides children and their communities with cleaner air and numerous public health benefits. We can’t get these buses on the road without the charging infrastructure to refuel them, and training for drivers and maintenance workers to support them.
